Taking on the Green Office Challenge
Challenge
To develop a set of sustainable practices in an office environment for a results driven culture. Developing targets outside of electricity saving to develop other relevant initiatives that senior management could defend in the media and use as part of their retention and attraction of Generation ‘y’. A carbon neutral target is part of the measure of success.
Insight
Working with the STW team we identified that time poor and results driven people need a step by step approach to meet challenges. We agreed on embedding not only the environmental responsibility messages but included the client focused needs as well.
Solution
We started with a research phase involving a combination of an eco survey along with a physical onsite recycling bin check by team in white coats. In phase two we presented results at team meetings showing feedback on the attitude survey and then the waste audit results. Visual collateral was used to reinforce messages and actions around paper use and ratios for best practice development.
Result
The campaign has launched a program that has encouraged a new round of ideas for the various office teams. The CEO used the ½ yearly results announcement to talk about their new journey and commitment. Paper and recycling initiatives have been launched. Key measurement periods are being agreed to monitor progress.
